Conway is a city in Horry County, South Carolina that is part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. Conway has many historic buildings and structures that are on the National Register of Historic Places.
Conway is one of the oldest towns in SC and it was originally named Kingston. The city now as a total area of 13.4 square miles. As of the 2000 census, there are 4,259 households and 2,942 families living in the city. Conway is situated on the western banks of the Waccamaw River and is 12 miles inland from Myrtle Beach.
Conway is the proud home of Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College. There is a public school system, Horry County School District, in place in Conway but there are also several privately run schools.
Conway is home to many festivals and entertainment attractions such as the Rivertown Jazz and Arts Festival and along the Conway Riverwalk there is the Bluegrass on the Waccamaw Festival. There are also fine dining, museums, theaters, shopping, and nature trails along the Waccamaw River.
There are many condominiums and townhouses in Conway, SC including some on the riverfront. Conway is an area on the move that is always growing, but remembering their historic memories.
