The Benefits of International Drive

The Benefits of International Drive

After much anticipation and 12 years after voters approved funding for the project, International Drive opened on July 25th, 2018!

International Drive

Recently opened, International Drive connects Highway 90 in Conway, SC with the Carolina Forest area of Myrtle Beach. This allows local residents of Highway 90 the benefit of bypassing the traffic jams of Highway 501 when traveling to the beach. Motorists can expect to save anywhere from 10-20 minutes of traveling time.

Homeowners, in and around Highway 90, have started to see another huge benefit as well.  The opening of International Drive has led to new development; which, in return, has led to an increase in home values. This increase in home values is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.

Local and national builders have also noticed the growing demand for homes in the Highway 90 area and are offering the public many new floor plans to choose from. Home buyers searching in the Highway 90 area can find new construction for sale starting in the low $160’s.

Now that Highway 90 residents can escape the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach tourism while enjoying the convenience of being so close to shopping, dining, health care, and other area attractions, it is easy to see why the Highway 90 area is quickly becoming a popular destination among first time home buyers and retirees.

For more information regarding the opening of International Drive and local properties for sale please call Brandon at 843-685-2498 or send him an email at BrandonBodieRealtor@gmail.com.

MAMILS LOOSE AT THE MARKET COMMON!

 Market Common

MAMILS LOOSE AT THE MARKET COMMON!

What are retired baby boomers doing in Myrtle Beach? They are cycling through The Market Common! More than 35% of the cycling growth in the nation is due to men & women aged 60 and up finding their pace and place behind handlebars instead of steering wheels.

Most interesting is the growing popularity of MAMIL’s (middle-aged men in Lycra) who are drawn to riding groups with similar fellows.  They join for many reasons but most commonly are the competitive tones with which they challenge each other to be better, faster, stronger in a non-combative way. This sector of the rider is the fastest growing group in the USA and abroad to date.

Oxford Dictionary Definition of MAMIL

(British Informal, Noun) ‘A middle-aged man who is a very keen road cyclist, typically one who rides an expensive bike and wears the type of clothing associated with professional cyclists.’

Pee Dee Bicycle conveniently located in The Market Common not only sells quality bicycles, but they also rent bicycles for tourists and residents alike. They have several organized weekly rides tailored to different age groups and experience levels. Their staff is diversified so they have specialists in each of the major cycling categories to offer the rider the best experience possible regardless of their age, skill or even their desired level of riding. Touring, mountain bikes and competition bikes are very different, and it helps to know that there are knowledgeable people to help you make smart decisions.

The Market Common has a multitude of bike trails throughout the community and 114 acres of streets in which to ride. Just south of the common next to a community called Seagate is a new bike park dedicated by the city showing that they recognize the direction that health and fitness are headed in.

Murrells Inlet

MURRELLS INLET: THE SEAFOOD CAPITAL OF SOUTH CAROLINA

Murrells Inlet

By: Melissa Carbone, Realtor at SC Real Estate Network

Unlike Myrtle Beach, but situated only 10 miles south, you won’t find flashing neon signs or huge ferris wheels. In Murrells Inlet, you enter the scenic feel of a quiet fishing village, undamaged by hotels and high-rise condos, and a small population of tourists. “The Seafood Capital of South Carolina” and home to “Restaurant Row”, is far much more than a great place to eat. It’s the place where golfers come to play, families come to dine (with a view), and snowbirds come to retire. The fisherman and naturists come together, along with antique collectors, and art lovers. There are always events to attend at the Marsh Walk, for every holiday, and occasionally people are able to set up booths to sell their arts and jewelry. This is a huge attraction for locals.

In Murrells Inlet, there is literally a home for every lifestyle and budget. While all buyers have specific needs, the vast array of price points starting at $50,000 for your manufactured homes up to the Million Dollar Ocean Front Homes, and of course everything in between.

With most places in Murrells Inlet being less than a 10-minute drive at the most to the beach, most are only a short golf cart ride, this is truly where someone would move to if they want to move to the beach.

North Myrtle Beach Recreation Park is now "OPEN"!

The question that is buzzing around Little River and North Myrtle Beach these days, is "Have you been to the new park?" The consensus from all those who say "Yes"... "It's amazing!"

For the dog lover, there are two separate dog parks, one for those over twenty five pounds, and one for those less than twenty five.  Large trees shade parts of both parks, making it cooler for hot days. Benches are placed throughout, for the comfort of the dog owner.  It's play date time for your pet!
For parents or grandparents, the playgrounds are calling your name!  The blue one is located at the soccer fields, the green one is in the center of the baseball fields, and the red, yellow, and orange playground, the largest one, located in the center of the park, is accompanied by two pavilions, single picnic tables, restrooms, and close parking spaces.  All the playgrounds are state of the art equipment, with bold colors and imaginative play areas.  See your little ones smile as they ride the two story slide!
In the very center of the park, there is a large meadow, set aside for family fun.  Throw a frisbee, kick a ball, or play chase with your kids! Just come to relax and enjoy. A large amphitheater connects to the meadow, and will host concerts in the coming months.

Embark on a leisurely stroll or a scenic run, on trails and sidewalks scattered throughout the park and around the lake.  No doubt about it, there is much to see and experience at the new North Myrtle Beach Sports and Tourism Park, located off the Main Street connector in North Myrtle Beach.

Home Style Happiness

The restaurants on the Grand Strand, from Little River and North Myrtle Beach area, all the way to Pawley’s Island, offer such a variety of choices in restaurants.  From fast food to seven course meals, you can have it all!  If given a choice, I love walking into a locally owned restaurant with a history.

Hoskins Restaurant, located on 405 Main St., North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, opened in 1948 by Hubert and Leona Eason Hoskins.  The restaurant has been open for 66 years, passed down for three generations to family members, Tina and Lenton Yates. The locals know the specials of each day by heart, and drop in on their favorite menu.  From fried chicken or whole fried flounder on Tuesday to shrimp or bar-b-q chicken on Friday, you’ll be sure to find satisfaction for your home style palette! An all you can eat salad bar, and three vegetables a day, are the perfect additions to each meal.  The finishing touch?  Lemon, pineapple, coconut, and chocolate pies, are some of the choice desserts made with recipes from the first owner, Leona Hoskins.

If you drive by around twelve noon, even in March, the line pours out the door and down Main Street, as patrons wait their turn to be seated.  The people in line are smiling and happy, confident in a good meal with a hometown atmosphere.  Pictures of bygone days grace the walls, bringing nostalgia into the hearts of older regulars.  The younger set loves to imagine what it used to be like, back when the beach town began.  I hope you will come and enjoy a meal.  You can take your pick, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, because Hoskins is open from 7 am to 2:30 pm, Tuesday – Sunday, and 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm, Tuesday – Saturday.  See you there!
